This Easy Recipe for Croutons is one of my favorite things because they’re so easy to make and taste infinitely better than store-bought ones. They’re perfectly crispy on the outside, yet still a bit chewy inside, adding the ideal texture to salads and soups. Plus, I can customize the seasonings to match any dish!  ❤️

INGREDIENTS:

Simple ingredients with very little equipment.

Prepare the bread:

This is one of my very favorite things in the kitchen! It doesn’t have harmful chemicals like a can of spray and you can put whatever kind of oil you want!

Season the croutons and toss:

Cool and serve:

Allow the croutons to cool completely before using. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 leftover rolls (or any bread of choice), cut into cubes
  • 2-3 tbsp avocado oil
  • Spices to taste:
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Dried rosemary
  • Dried thyme
  • Red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Nuts and seeds (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the bread

Cut the left over rolls into bit-sized cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl

Season the croutons:

Spray or drizle the avocado oil over the bread cubes, tossig them gently to ensure even coating

Sprinkle seasonings of your choice over the break cubers. Toss again until the cubes are evenly coated with oil and seasongs.

Bake:

Spread out seasoned cubes in the air fryer or a single layer on a baking sheet.

Turn air fryer on to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 10 minutes, turning he croutons halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy or in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to turn them halfway through.





Notes

  • Bread Choice: Any type of bread can be used, from rolls and baguettes to sandwich bread. Stale bread works best as it holds its shape and crisps up more evenly.
  • Seasoning Variations: Customize the croutons with your favorite spices. Try adding Parmesan, smoked paprika, or Italian seasoning for different flavors.
  • Cooking Method: For a quicker option, you can cook the croutons in a skillet over medium heat. Just toss frequently until they’re golden and crisp.
  • Storage Tip: Store cooled croutons in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If they start to soften, you can quickly re-crisp them in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
